Festive Win That I’ll Never Forget

December 2020 brought one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. After losing my accounting job due to COVID, Amazon became my lifeline, offering a secure role during the huge surge in online shopping. I worked there for two and a half years. It was also during lockdown that I discovered a new passion: acrylic painting.

This newfound creativity led me to enter Amazon’s nationwide festive postcard competition. Selected from over 500 entries, my work was awarded first place in the adult category and later chosen as the overall winner.

The victory wasn’t just personal; it gave me the opportunity to donate £5,000 to SEN Trust Southend, supporting local children with special educational needs. Even more excitingly, my winning postcard featured in Magic Breakfast Christmas parcels, reaching thousands of families across the UK.

Winning this competition showed me how creativity can inspire, connect, and make a real difference. What started as a way to pass the time during lockdown turned into an opportunity to support my community — an experience I will never forget.
