Festive Win That I’ll Never Forget

In 2020, after losing my accounting role, I consciously sought work in an environment where I could feel secure despite the uncertainty of the pandemic. I joined Amazon during a period of intense demand, working there for two and a half years. It was during this time that painting became more than a personal refuge.

I entered Amazon’s nationwide festive postcard competition — chosen from over 500 entries — and was awarded first place in the adult category, later becoming the overall winner. As part of the prize, I selected a local school to receive £5,000 in support. My painting, as a winning postcard design, was also included in Magic Breakfast Christmas parcels, reaching 50,000 families across the UK.

Winning this competition showed me how creativity can inspire, connect, and make a real difference. What started as a way to pass time during lockdown turned into an opportunity to spread joy and support my community – an experience I’ll never forget.
