Original acrylic paintings from the Thames Estuary

From my corner of the world

I’m Erzsebet — an acrylic painter based in Southend-on-Sea, beside the Thames Estuary.
The changing landscape around me shapes the way I observe and paint.

I hope you find a painting here that resonates with you.

DISCOVER THE PORTHOLES

A view through the cabin window

Each painting in the Portholes series is designed to feel like a glimpse through a ship’s cabin window — a quiet view of water, light and distant landscapes framed by the circular opening.

The idea for the series began in Chalkwell, where an experience changed the way I thought about framing a landscape. Each painting invites you to look through that small circular opening and imagine the world beyond it.

Winning Amazon’s nationwide festive postcard competition gave me the opportunity to choose a local organisation to receive a £5,000 donation.

I chose SEN Trust Southend, which supports children and young people with special educational needs in the community where I live.

Winning the competition showed me how creativity can inspire, connect, and make a real difference. What started as a way to pass the time during lockdown turned into an opportunity to support my community — an experience I will never forget.

A win that gave back
